TOWNSHIP HEALTH SERVICES
The
focus of the Rockaway Township Health
Department is disease prevention and
education towards maintaining or adopting
healthy behaviors. To this end, a
comprehensive schedule of health services
and educational programs is offered to the
residents of Rockaway Township.

flyers, posters, and on Cablevision of
Morris on Channel 21. All clinic dates
are subject to change.

Listed
below is a description of programs being
offered by the Township’s Health Department:
The
focus of the Rockaway Township Health
Department is disease prevention and
education towards maintaining or adopting
healthy behaviors. To this end, a
comprehensive schedule of health services
and educational programs is offered to our
residents.
Male Cancer Screening
– This program includes a testicular,
prostate, rectal and breast exam performed
by a physician. PSA blood testing is
also provided (offered Spring and Fall).
Female Cancer Screening
– This program includes a pap test, breast,
pelvic, and rectal exam performed by a
physician. Assistance is provided with
obtaining mammography appointments at a
local hospital as per recommended screening
guidelines (offered Spring and Fall).
Blood Screening
– This adult health screening includes blood
tests targeting diabetes and heart disease
(fasting blood sugar, CBC, lipoprotein
profile), blood pressure measurement and
discussion of risk factors for various
health problems and ways to promote
wellness.
Blood Pressure Program
–These monthly screenings are conducted by
our public health nurses who perform blood
pressure measurement, discuss risk factors
and provide health promotion information.
Screenings are held at the municipal
building between 11:00 and 11:30 A.M.
The nurses are also available by
appointment.
Child Health Conference
– Routine well
child healthcare is provided to eligible
children. This program includes physical
examinations, laboratory tests (including
blood lead testing), and immunizations for
children without health insurance or with
insurance that does not cover the cost of
immunizations.
Flu/Pneumonia Clinic
– Flu and/or pneumonia vaccination is
provided to interested senior citizens and
other high risk individuals.
Health Education Programs
– Our Director of Health Education,
Catherine Farrell, is available to present
health related programs and to provide
information on a variety of topics, such as:

appointments, and clinic locations, please
contact the Health Department at (973)
983-2848 or 983-2849. For health
related questions or concerns, our Public
Health Nurses, Janet Hess, BSN, RN and Susan
Sooy, RN, BSN are available to provide
assistance. They also coordinate the
above screening programs and clinics and
will be present to address your health
concerns, provide appropriate information
and assist with follow up, if needed.
There is a nominal fee for most of our
clinic programs. However, no one will
be denied services due to inability to pay.
