In keeping with current building closure procedures, we are asking that homeowners please make every effort to pay the 4th quarter November 1st property taxes by mail, placing payment in the dropbox or online for your safety. Please be advised that your cancelled check is your receipt. If you require a paper receipt, please include a self-addressed / stamped envelope. If you would like a confirmation of the office receiving your payment, please provide an email address or phone number.
We strongly recommend not paying by cash for your safety. However, cash payments can be made on Tuesday and Thursdays between 8:30am - 4:30pm. We highly encourage property owners to wear a mask during your appointment for the protection of yourself. The tax office will be available through the tax quarter on Tuesdays and Thursdays (November 3, 5 & 10, 2020).
All payments are due 11/10/2020, interest free.
The Tax Collector's Office in Rockaway Township is a division of the Finance Department and is charged with the:
- Reporting and enforcement of taxes
- Sewer maintenance fees
- Special assessments
Sewer maintenance are billed annually, based on a calendar year. The billing is for properties that are connected to Rockaway Township Sewer Lines.
2020 Sewer Maintenance Bills were mailed on or about May 22, 2020.
Payments are due by June 26, 2020 without penalties.
This bill covers property owners from 1/1/2020 to 12/31/2020.
Sewer assessments for Sewer/Water are also billed annually, according to due date which is established by an Ordinance.
Property Tax Relief

Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the owner from paying property taxes and any delinquent interest that accrues from late payments per N.J.S.A. 54:4-64.
Property owners be advised that if your account (tax, water, sewer or other municipal charges) becomes delinquent at the end of the year and is over $10,000 (principal and interest) the property will be charged a 6% year end penalty.
