Summer Playground program is a 9:00AM-12:00PM Summer Camp through the Rockaway Township Division of Recreation. Campers attend one of the local schools, enjoy summer activities with friends, and take trips to local recreation activities.
The cost of Summer Playground Program is $55 per camper. Registration is limited to residents of Rockaway Township. Parents are required to provide transportation for their child to and from the school each day.

Camp is at Birchwood and Dwyer Schools for the 2021 season, and camp will run June 28 through August 6, Monday through Friday, 9am to 12pm.

For the 2021 Season, and in order to comply with CDC and NJ Department of Health guidelines for Summer Camps, the following program modifications are currently planned:
    1. All eligible individuals attending or working at camp are encouraged to get vaccinated against COVID-19, as soon as possible. CDC recommends everyone 12 years and older should get a COVID-19 vaccine to help protect against COVID-19.
    2. Camp will be exclusively outside this year, with indoor spaces available on for emergencies and bathrooms. If weather makes outdoor camp not possible, camp may be cancelled for the day.
    3. Campers will not be required to mask outside, but must bring a mask with them each day to camp. All individuals are encouraged to wear masks outdoors when social distancing is not possible. Activities are being selected this year to accommodate social distancing. All individuals will be required to wear masks when inside, and during transit to trips.
    4. Parents of campers are the front line for screening their child for symptoms of respiratory disease. A screening form, available at https://forms.gle/Nj4cqxdPuCNYtFndA must be filled out each day for each camper by a parent or guardian. Parents of vaccinated campers do not need to fill out the symptom screener.
    5. Symptoms of COVID-19 observed will result in the symptomatic individual being sent home early.
    6. Rockaway Township Recreation will comply fully with Rockaway Township Division of Health if there is exposure traced back to the Summer Playground Program, and encourage all individuals to do so in order to facilitate contact tracing efforts.
    7. In the event of an outbreak, camp may be temporarily suspended to facilitate safe and healthy return.
