Summer Playground Program

Summer Playground Program registration is now available on Community Pass. If you would like to register, visit Community Pass! If you have questions, please email, or call 973-983-2841.

Summer Playground program is a 9:00AM-12:00PM Summer Camp through the Rockaway Township Division of Recreation. Campers attend one of the local schools, enjoy summer activities with friends, and take trips to local recreation activities.
The cost of Summer Playground Program is $55 per camper. Registration is limited to residents of Rockaway Township. Parents are required to provide transportation for their child to and from the school each day.

Camp is at Birchwood and Dwyer Schools for the 2021 season, and camp will run June 28 through August 6, Monday through Friday, 9am to 12pm.

For the 2021 Season, and in order to comply with CDC and NJ Department of Health guidelines for Summer Camps, the following program modifications are currently planned:
  • All eligible campers and counselors are encouraged to become vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible.
  • All camp activities are planned as outdoor. Indoor spaces will be available only in the event of inclement weather. If weather is preventing outdoor activities, camp may be cancelled for the day. Parents will be notified of camp closures via CommunityPass, so please double check email and phone number contact settings.
  • Campers and counselors are to wear face coverings when social distancing is not possible, and at all times when inside.
  • Campers and Counselors will be required to screen for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to the start of each camp day. Parents, remember that you are the front line for detecting symptoms in your camper. Parents must submit a daily screening for symptoms for their camper, which will be online, ahead of dropping off.
  • Guidelines may change depending on future Executive Orders and Guidance from CDC and NJDOH. We're working hard to make camp activities that are fun and safe for all campers and counselors, and to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All future guideline changes will be sent via email to registrants.
