On April 23, 2024, The Rockaway Township Council adopted an ordinance titled, "Lead paint inspections in rental dwellings," and added it to Chapter 28 of the general ordinances of the Township of Rockaway.
In accordance with the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) regulation, NJAC5-17, owners/landlords of residents who rent apartments in homes constructed before 1978 must certify said homes as free of lead-based hazards.
