November 3, 2020 General Election


On August 14, 2020 Governor Murphy issued Executive Order No. 177 declaring that the November 3, 2020 General Election would be held primarily Vote-By-Mail. 

  1. All registered active voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot by mail on or before October 5th. The County Clerk’s Office will provide a postage paid envelope to return the mail-in-ballot. No stamp is required.
  2. Voters may return their completed mail in ballot to the Board of Elections through the following methods:
  1. By mail through the USPS.
  2. Through use of 10 drop boxes located throughout Morris County. Rockaway Township has a drop box located directly outside the entrance to the Rockaway Township Police Department.

The boxes resemble mail boxes but are painted red, white and blue.

The display the words “Morris County- Official Ballot Drop Box.”

  1. In-person delivery to the Board of Election Office, or
  2. By submitting their own ballot in-person at their assigned 2020 General Election polling location. There will be one polling location in Rockaway Township, this will be the Court Room at the Municipal Building, located at 65 Mt. Hope Rd., Rockaway, NJ 07866. The polling location will be open from 6:00AM-8:00PM on November 3rd. 
  1. Sample ballots will not be mailed to voters for the General Election. In lieu of a Sample Ballot, a card containing the polling location and other pertinent information will be mailed to each voter.
  2. Voters who have not voted by mail and come to the Municipal Building to vote, will only be permitted to vote by a paper Provisional Ballot. Use of the Voting Machines will not be permitted.
  3. Mail-In-Ballots that are returned in person or via drop box must be received by the Board of Elections by 8PM on Election Day and will be considered valid and shall be canvassed, provided that they meet all other statutory requirements.
  4. Mail-In-Ballots that are mailed and postmarked by Election Day and received by the Board of Elections no later than 8:00PM on November 10th will be accepted and canvassed provided that they meet all other statutory requirements.
  5. Voters whose ballots are rejected by the Board of Elections for a missing or discrepant signature, shall be given the opportunity to cure the signature defect.

  1. Once you’re logged in, click on the “Mail-in Ballot” button. Your entire history of mail-in ballots will be listed here – if your ballot hasn’t been received yet, it won’t be listed.
