Rockaway Township is Currently Seeking a Full-Time Communications Officer- This individual, under direction, will receive calls either via radio or telephone, operate data processing and computer-orientated equipment to receive, retrieve, enter, and transmit information to local, state, and out-of-state law enforcement and/or other emergency service agencies.

The ideal candidate will remain calm under pressure, be attentive to details, have good computer, verbal, and written skills; will be able to perform repetitive, clerical operations; maintain confidentiality of information; and able to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems.

Applicants will be required to possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, a driver’s license valid in New Jersey and be CPR certified. at least one year of dispatching experience is desired. If not already received, the selected candidate will obtain their EMD and Basic Telecommunication certificate within 1 year of employment and maintain them in good standing.

Laborer 1 Roads

LABORER 1-ROADS, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS - TOWNSHIP OF ROCKAWAY - The Township seeks to hire a full-time Laborer 1 within the Department of Public Works. Under supervision, the successful applicant will be required to assist in repairs of storm drains, paving projects, pothole repairs, recycling, maintenance of properties, maintaining roads, drainage areas as instructed and other township facilities as required and perform any other duties as assigned such as, but not limited to, salting and snow plowing. The applicant must have a high school diploma (or equivalent), as well as the ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving history. CDL is preferred but not required. If you do not possess a CDL, it is required to be obtained within 6 months of employment.

Experience working in the Department of Public Works is preferred. This position requires the applicant to be available "on call" and as needed.
