  • Taxes are due quarterly on February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1. The Township has a 10 calendar day grace period. The August quarter will be due 25 days from date of mailing the bills. Due dates will be stated on the tax bills and on the township's website.

  • If the Township decides to do estimated billing, estimated 3rd quarter tax bills will be mailed by June 30. The final tax bills will be mailed by September 30. If the Township does not do estimated tax billing, the final tax bills will be released as soon as possible after receiving the final tax rate.

  • Duplicate Bills can be requested by emailing taxc@rockawaytownship.org, faxing a request to 973-983-2871, calling the office at 973-983-2822 or coming into our office at 65 Mt Hope Rd.

  • The collector sends out a delinquent notice at least once a month for bills not paid. Please be advised that interest cannot be waived once a payment is delinquent. The interest rate is 8% on the first $1,500.00 of the delinquency and 18% on the balance until the account is paid in full. The collector holds an annual tax sale (places a lien) to collect prior year delinquencies, interest and fees.

  • the total amount of credits from a Successful County Board Judgments will be applied to the final tax bill (August & November quarters) for that current year.

  • Homeowners can file a county tax appeal between February and April 1 against their assessed value. Please contact the assessor’s office or the Morris County Board of Taxation for more information.

  • Homeowners can make payment online by using their account number and last name as it appears on the bill. Payments made by ACH are free of charge. Payments made by credit cards (including debit cards) will be charged 3% convenience fee. Homeowners can also come into our office Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm with cash or a check. There is a drop box available outside of the front doors for after-hours collection. Post marks are not accepted. Per state statute – taxes are due regardless of receiving a bill or not.

  • Homeowners can apply for the Homestead Rebate and the Property Tax Reimbursement programs through the State of New Jersey. Restrictions apply. Please visit the State’s website for more information. There are also 2 deductions homeowners can apply for, veteran / widow of a veteran and a senior/disabled/surviving spouse deduction. Please contact the tax assessor’s office for information and applications.

  • Homeowners can go to www.rockawaytownship.org and register for the “finance” reminders with their email and or cell phone numbers. The tax collector sends out a reminder email and text message approximately 2 weeks prior to the due date.

  • Address change requests must be submitted in writing and the request must specify what bills they want to change (tax, water, sewer). Homeowners can email their request to taxc@rockawaytownship.org, fax to 973-983-2871, mail in a request to 65 Mt. Hope Rd. Rockaway, NJ 07866 or come into the office with a request.
