Mount Hope Pond

Mount Hope Pond is located in Mt. Hope County Park. Rockaway Township maintains and operates a beach swimming area on the South end of the pond. The pond is a short ride from anywhere in town, the water clear, and the sand is clean. Bathrooms are provided in season. 

Mt. Hope Beach is a restricted to badge holders only. Please visit Community Pass to purchase badges online, and then stop in Recreation Office to obtain your badges. Alternatively, you may purchase badges at the office. 

Summer swim season begins Memorial Day weekend and is open weekends only until school is out, then 7 days per week until Labor Day.  Hours are from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. 7 days a week. The facility is open to residents with a Mt. Hope Beach Badge. Badges are available for $25.00 per person, and children under 5 are free. Guests $2.00 per day, but must attend with a badge holder.

Fishing Guidelines

  • Shoreline fishing is permitted except in beach area.
  • New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection stocks the pond in the spring and fall with trout.
  • Boats are not permitted.
